The restrooms may be closed. But there are porta potties across the road.
Rita Wilczek and Alan Wichman invite you to participate in the HBC ALS Bike Ride, Long Route. This 50 mile ride moves along quiet roads in rural Washington County past horse farms, through small towns and along forested lanes.
Use the 'Get me there' link on this page to calculate a route from your location to Scandia MN, our starting point.
In addition to providing an enjoyable bike ride, this event has a charitable purpose--to build awareness about ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Rita's brother Mark passed away from ALS in 2007. It is in his memory that Rita and Alan captain this event.
The charitable purpose of this ride is also to request a donation (free-will) to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (TDI), a research organization devoted to finding treatments and ultimately a cure for ALS. To donate go to the Fundraising Page and click the 'Donate' link at the top of the page. Enter your information. Please also click 'In Memory/Honor Of' and then enter the name, Mark Wilczek or Mark's Team. Your donation will be confidential. The ALS TDI will provide Rita with the total donations to Mark's Team to enable us to complete a match.
Please visit the ALS TDI Website and review research projects, therapies in development and the compelling patient stories.
